Updates of the firmware now appear to be in the .fw file format instead of a zip file format. I also see ZCam recommends using the web client instead of the ZCam control software. Curious about these shifts since the control software with a zip file worked well before for firmware upgrades. I have heard changing the .fw file extension to a .zip file extension makes the file workable for firmware upgrade however it appears to be an extra step. Why has Zcam made these changes in a firmware upgrade? Has anyone been able to continue to do upgrades via Zcam video control software via a router connection to the camera with a .fw file that has been renamed to a .zip extension? The new methodology just appears to be convoluted since the Z cam video controller already has an upgrade option in its drop-down menu.
